Where To Start?

No appointment is required, you can come in anytime between 9-5, Monday-Friday to drop off your photos and music.  Please follow these simple instructions BEFORE you come in, to save you some time after you arrive.

• Select the photos that you would like included in your final DVD, keeping in mind that, on average, we time the speed to allow 10 photos per minute.
• Get some stickers (ie yard sale price stickers, etc.) and number them with a Sharpie marker from 1 to however many photos you decide to include in your montage. Allow stickers to dry overnight if possible, to avoid any possibility of ink transfer from the stickers to the photographs.
• Put your photographs in the order in which you would like to see them on the final DVD, and number them using the number stickers you created in Step 2. PLEASE DO NOT WRITE THE NUMBERS DIRECTLY ONTO THE BACKS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS! We’ve lost track of the number of times we’ve had to work with photographs that had ink transfer on the surface of the photo, from people numbering directly onto the backs of the photos.
• Select your music, keeping in mind the “10 photos per minute” suggestion, and using the total number of photos that you’ve selected as a guide, determine how many songs you will need to bring in to span the entire montage. You can bring music on original CDs, or just individual tracks on CDRs or USB flash or thumb drives.
• Create the edit list (see sample here) to tell us what two title screens you would like included in your video dvd, as well as a main DVD title so we’ll know how to label your finished DVD. Include which songs you’d like to go with which pictures and just bring everything in to our office.

Then, after you come to our office, we’ll check you in, get contact information, answer any questions you may have, and have you back on your way in no time.

Mixed Media – 8mm Film AND Slides, In One DVD Video

We just sent a customer home with a very full hard drive and some homework. His task, should he choose to accept it: view and select footage and images from 2700 feet of film and 484 slides and negatives, and let us know which parts of both he’d like to have included in his finished DVD.

8mm Film, plus…

The customer had brought in 14 50 foot reels, plus 6 more larger reels of various sizes, and knew he wanted them captured, but was hard pressed to figure out what to do with all that film footage, especially since that wasn’t all he had.

Slides & Negatives, equals…

In addition to the film, he also had a shoebox sized collection of loose, unlabeled slides and negatives. “Can you do something with these too?” But of course!

So we captured all of his film, scanned in all of his negatives and slides, and transferred everything to the external hard drive that he dropped off. He just picked up the hard drive this morning, so now that he can finally view all of his film and slides for the first time in years via his computer, it’s up to him to determine which slides and film he wants to include on the final version of his video dvd.

Once he determines what he wants included, all he has to do is provide us with his selections, we’ll edit the footage to his specifications, and when we’re done, he’ll have a completely customized dvd video to share with his family and friends for years to come.

We recently transferred a customer’s family home videos to dvd.  It was a fairly extensive (38 tapes!) transfer job, essentially his entire family history that he’d recorded through the years, in a variety of videotape formats: VHS, 8mm, and mini-DV. Since Carolina Custom Video can transfer nearly any format of video to dvd, we were able to transfer all three types of tape to dvd for him.

VHS Video To DVD

We started off with eleven VHS tapes, including one that they’d had done of their old 8mm reel to reel family films (which since the technology to do that has improved so much since the early days of film transfer, they are planning to bring in to have us re-transfer from the original reels). Transferring those videos to dvd covered most of their family history through the 1980′s.

8mm Video To DVD

The 1990′s and early 2000′s were the 8mm years. That’s what the family used to shoot a majority of their videos during that time, so we transferred TWENTY TWO family videos to dvd for them for that time period.

Mini-DV Digital Video To DVD

Mini-DV digital tapes finally brought the family from 2005 into the present. With those, we were able to transfer over their final five family videos to dvd to complete their transfer job.

When all was said and done, we’d transferred 38 videos to dvd for the family, resulting in the creation of 31 dvds.  Since videotape degrades over time, having transferred their entire video collection to dvd, they were now assured that they’d preserved their family memories in a long lasting dvd format.

CrossCONNECTIONS Video Production

For the project, CrossCONNECTIONS, we worked closely with Alice Kunka, the Pastor of Christian Formation, and with Carl Frazier, Lead Pastor.

To begin their DVD, we created a photo montage with artwork specifically chosen for the Lenten season as well as music created for the DVD including vocals by Patti Cook and keyboards by Brent Hubbell.

There were six sessions, each with three parts, incorporating scripture, Carl’s message, artwork, and group discussion questions. Please see the YouTube video below for a short sample of the video production we did for them.
