Screening Room
At Carolina Custom Video, we transfer your family's Regular 8mm and Super 8mm movies with a professional telecine unit that scans every frame of film individually into our digital editing system.

This capture method allows our computer to adjust color and lighting levels on a frame-by-frame basis. The result is your transfers are 100% flicker free, crystal clear and razor sharp from corner to corner!

All Super 8mm movies with sound require real-time transfer using a professional transvideo unit. Our transvideo unit is a lens assembly that sits about an eighth of an inch from the film. The film image goes through the lens assembly into a digital camera and from there into our digital editing system. And we don't "set it and forget it" either. We watch every foot of your home movies and we run them through a processing amplifier, doing our best to restore the color and clarity of your original film.

Both our telecine and transvideo transfers of your Regular 8mm and Super 8mm film are digital. This means we process your footage at highest quality and can then output your video of family memories to DVD, digital tape or VHS tape. In fact, every DVD includes individual chapter stops for every reel. That means you can jump right to the reel you want with one click!

All film transfer is done right here on premise by our trained staff.

To help you estimate what the amount of film you have, we offer the following guide:
3" diameter reels generally hold 50 feet of film.
5" diameter reels generally hold 200 feet of film.
7" diameter reels generally hold 400 feet of film.

If you have reels of film, but don't know  in what order you want them, or if you want to create a highlights video, please see our You're the Director page. Since we digitize your film, anything is possible!
